'Be honest with yourself, you will never be able to get Joanna.' Sander said to me.
'A man can dream,' I respond.
Jasper get's in the middle. 'But you have been dreaming for the last three years. You didn't have a girlfriend or even a one nightstand for the last couple of years.'
The two of them sigh but just then I see her, walking into the cafeteria. Joanna is beautiful, so beautiful and she knew it. She was wearing a short purple dress which accentuated her big breasts and broad hips. Her brown curls fell over her shoulder and she swiped it back behind her ear with a well manicured hand.
Oh god, I thought, why did you do this to me?
You would think that, because she is beautiful, she is a bitch but no. Of course she is also one of the sweetest girls around. She is a little bit of arrogant sometimes but I forgave her that on the grounds that her looks make up for that.
She waved at her friends and laughed her soft laugh.
'Hey!' Sander yelled at me. 'Earth to Kevin!'
I looked up at them, they were both looking at me.
'We were talking to you mate, you just ignore her because Miss Angel walks in.'
The bell rang.
'See you in class. Jasper said before heading of to his locker.
I walked to chemistry class and sat down at my usual table. Jasper was late, as always. The teacher walked to the front of the class and as he started talking about some new assignment, Jasper walked in.
'Did I miss anything?' he asked.
I shook my head. 'He is just starting.'
As you all know, it's very important to learn to work with other people then just your friends and that's why I decided to make the couples myself.
Let me just give you a spoiler alert right here, yes, of course I will get to be a team with Joanna else the story would be quite boring, I mean. My life is really boring and if it wasn't for this teacher it would still be. I know what you're all thinking: oh god, really, the same story line as always? Well, no, not really the same but the beginning was as things usual begin. A chemistry assignment with the hottest girl in school.
Let's just cut to the chase shall we?
'Jasper, you're with Michelle. Joanna is with Kevin.'
I looked up, then, it was quite a shock to hear that I would be lab partners with Joanna. Kind of scary actually, I had never been very close to her, let alone that I would have to work on a paper with her. She would have to invite me to her home, or invite myself at my home.
My thoughts stormed of in different kind of paths, most of which ended up with the both of us having less clothes on then was appropriate.
I looked at Joanna, she was smiling at me and waved a little. I smiled back.
When the teacher was done calling names we had to sit with out partners.
I walked up to Joanna, almost tripped over a backpack but managed to stumble to the seat. My face became bright red and I tried to hide it by getting out my notebook and pencils.
'So, we're stuck with each other,' I said.
Immediately she looked nervous. 'If you want we can ask Simons if he wants to change us,' she said quickly. 'You don't need to put up with me.'
If possible, my face became redder. 'Oh no, I didn't mean it like that, I was just joking around. I do like you, I mean, I do like being your partner, I mean, lab partner.'
Goddamn Freudian slips.
She laughed shyly at me. 'I know that I might not look like the brightest girl but I will try to do my best,' she said, ignoring my words.
'I'm sure you're brighter then me,' I responded even though I knew that was not true.
'It's sweet of you to say, you can stop blushing now, I'm a human being too, not that special, everyone sometimes uses the wrong words.'
So she had noticed, I blushed again and laughed boldly.
'Joanna, Kevin, if you can stop chatting now then I can explain the whole assignment to everyone.'
I closed my eyes, all of the fantasies I had about having a normal conversation with Joanna were blown to pieces. If there was a way to just disappear into mist then I would've chosen that option.
Instead, everyone just stared at me for a while. Most boys looked with either anger of jealousy at me and most of the girls looked annoyed. Another boy who had fallen for that angel like person.
A couple of days later, I decided to call her, we had exchanged our phone numbers so that we could do some work together.
'Joanna speaking.'
'Hey, it's Kevin, from chemistry.'
'I know how you are, Kevin, how are you?'
'I'm good, I was thinking, maybe we could do some work today?'
'Yes, alright with me, I was just finishing up a project anyway. Maybe you can come over, my parents aren't home so we will avoid awkward situations.'
'Yes, that's fine.'
She told me where she lived and ten minutes later I was ready to go. It took me ten minutes to shave, do my hair and get some nice (and above all fresh) pants.
While I was shaving I wondered, was it a sign that Joanna had invited me to her home? It caused the razor to make me bleed and I knew that it would be emberassing. Joanna would certainly see that I just shaved in order to look nice, right before I went to her.
For a second I wanted to call it off but then my rational mind kicked in. It was still a kind of date, she had asked me on.
And so fifteen minutes later I rang her doorbell and not even five seconds later she opened the door.
She looked stunning, just as she had did the first time.
'Hey, good to see you,' she said as she started walking away, leaving the door open for me to enter.
'How are you?' I asked.
'Oh I'm grand,' she said with a smile. 'I just finished a major project and I'm very happy about it.'
I didn't ask any further in order to save myself from some other ginat mistakes I made the other day.
'Shall I show you my room?' she asked. I obeyed with a smile and followed her upstairs.
Her room was nothing special, there were some big computers though, something I wouldn't have expected for a girl.
'I really like to work with computers,' she said. 'Programming is my real passion.'
My mouth fell open.
'Yes, I know,' she continued. 'It's weird for a girl with an ass and boobs to like something which isn't showing of her body to the rest of the world but ever since I was little I liked it. The body came later.'
She smiled shyly and sat down behind her screen.
'It's awesome.' I said, not knowing what else to say.
'My room? It's just a girls room.'
'No, I mean, programming.'
'What?' She looked confused at me.
'It's awesome, I've always liked people who could do that, I never had the brains or the motivation to get started but I do think it's extremely interesting.'
She laughed softly. 'I don't know if you like the way I program just as much as the games you play.'
I blushed, she thought of me as a child, as someone who just played games all day.
'What did you have in mind for the chemistry assignment?' I asked to change the subject.
Joanna took the invitation and pointed me a seat right in front of her screen.
'I was thinking about changing someone's genes,' she said.
But even following the cliché you can do something worthwhile. And cliches are cliches for a reason, they usually are good plot lines.
If everything cliche was bad Hollywood would have disappeared by now.

- lies and plagiarism win grand fame in the art world apparently.
She didn't exactly stole it because she did make it into something else. It's very similliar, I know that, but it is different then the original.
It does suck though, you mentioning it. Now I know and I enjoy 'her' art less.
